Hello from Under DownUnder. Our names are Allan and Ruth Pearson and we live in two awesome places in Tasmania, Australia, namely Burnie and Rosebery .
Burnie is known for its warm hospitality and facilities. You can learn about the history of this exquisite area at the Pioneer Village Museum. Taste the delicious cheeses at the Lactos Cheese Factory and buy some to take home. Visit Australian Paper Mills for an insight into an industry that has been part of life for many generations here. See platypus sliding through the water at Fern Glade and cascades at Guide Falls. A short drive from Burnie there are tranquil walks in the Hellyer Gorge State Reserve. Drive along the coast to swim Boat Harbour, Sisters Beach and hunt for wildflowers in Rocky Cape National Park.
Rosebery is 90 minutes south west of Burnie (125 kilometres/78 miles) and five hours north west of Hobart (335 kilometres/208 miles). Rosebery is a mining town, settled in the late 1800s when rich deposits of gold, lead and zinc were discovered at Mount Black. You can take a surface tour of the town's working zinc mine to gain an insight into modern mining practises. Visit Montezuma Falls (113 metres/370 feet) - Tasmania's highest waterfall - or walk to the top of Mount Read (1,588 metres/5,210 feet) for stunning views of the area. Strahan is an hours drive (70 kilometres/43 miles) south west of Rosebery. Here you can take a Gordon River cruise, soar high above Tasmania's World Heritage Wilderness area on a scenic flight or relax in a waterfront restaurant or cafe.
Thanks for visiting!
